Museum of Folk’s Useful Arts and Trade HandicraftThe building of the former Orphans Asylum was commissioned by the local merchant A.N. Zausailov at the beginning of the 20th century. It was made according to the project of architect A.Vilfart and was designed in the Modern style. It was used as a daycare center and an orphanage for children. Later on May 18th, 2007 (the International Day of Museums), one more department of the Town Local History Museum was opened there: the Museum of Folk Traditional Arts and Handicraft. Among its exhibits you will find Yelets lace, piano accordions, felt-boot manufacture production, wooden, rod-wicker and drop-forged items, a lot of interesting and informative exhibits telling about folk’s useful arts and trade handicrafts of Yelets uyezd (district).
