The museum was the first one among those which are devoted to I.A. Bunin’s life and creative work. It is situated in the petty bourgeois Rostovtseva’s former house where he lived during his years of studying at Yelets gymnasium.

The exposition gives a vivid and exact representation of all stages of the outstanding writer’s life. A reconstructed interior of the rooms with antique furniture and the writer’s personal belongings provoke visitors’ interest and preserve the atmosphere of the end of the 19th century.
