One of the main sights of the town is Yelets Kuranty. The clock is distinguished by harmonious architectural forms and a subtle placing. In November 1975 the city-dwellers heard a tuneful chime of Yelets Kuranty for the first time — thanks to the gratuitous assistance of many local enterprises, the Tower was constructed and has operated for many generations of the town inhabitants.
