House of the Voevode

House of the VoevodeOne of the most ancient buildings of the 18th century civil architecture that still exists today is a one-storied stone residential house of the Yelets Voevode Smirnov-Lashin. It was built on the model of Russian wooden architecture. There is a seni (inner porch) in the middle of the house, with living-rooms on the left and right. The symmetrical facade is decorated with rustic pilasters, and window jambs with impressive reliefs. The windows have bow-shaped lintels. The window jambs, lintels, mouldings and framework of the pilasters are all hewn out of brick. Its architecture is of the early baroque style.
