The building of the railway station was constructed in 1899. On March 1st Alexander II confirmed a concession on constructing the railway from the town of Yelets to the station of Gryazy, which belonged to >Voronez railway district. That event was a starting point for construction of the railway lines, thanks to which Yelets products became popular in the nearby provinces.
