The monument to a Soviet soldier was inaugurated on May 8, 1967, by the 20th anniversary of the Victory over the Nazi Germany. On October 21, 1967, participants of the Great Patriotic War delivered here a torch fired from the flame of the eternal light by the grave of Unknown Soldier in Moscow. Since then the flickering flame is burning by the sacred obelisk without extinction.
